The topic of "autonomous driving" has been a reality in Formula Student since 2017, when this category was first introduced. What is new is that in the Formula Student Germany (FSG) from 2021 all “Driverless Vehicles” must complete the discipline acceleration (acceleration test). The test determines the acceleration capacity of the vehicle from a standing start on a straight line of 75 m length.
Since 2018, the Elbflorace team of the TU Dresden has held the current course track record for electric cars in Hockenheim with a time of 3,240 seconds. Since 2016, Bender has regularly supported the Dresden team with 2 insulation monitors.
